Breitling Navitimer AOPA pre 806 Valjoux 72 fully restored B+P
Euro 7.950
The perfect vintage watch. This is the most sought-after AOPA, one of the first with a Valjoux 72 movement. Moreover, it is in near-mint condition thanks to a professional and accurate restoration carried out in 2014 by a reputable Breitling collector in the US. The dial, bezel, and hands were refinished, the movement was serviced, and the case was lightly reworked. It also received a period-correct leather strap that tapers at the buckle (from 22mm on the case to 16mm). It is a classic watch from 1954/1955 that shows no signs of age. It is therefore very wearable and extremely presentable.
The bezel with the highest bead count measures 40mm; the case, pusher, and B-crown are made of steel. The caseback does not yet bear the 806 reference and is the only visible place where the Breitling logo can be found (besides the B on the crown and movement). This is because this watch was part of the first special series made for the American AOPA (Airplane Owner and Pilot Association). Instead of the Breitling name, the AOPA coat of arms appears with the name in very small print on the dial. This watch had no official reference at the time and became known as the 806 months later. The movement has the BOW code (the American import code for Breitling). At that time, all Breitling watches sold in America were sold by Wakmann and also supplied to AOPA members. This is why the accompanying Wakmann chronograph presentation box was purchased some time later. The watch also comes with a very early warranty certificate and A4-sized instructions. According to the seller in 2014, the original paperwork has not been filled out.
This is a classic, approximately 70 years old, that deserves to be worn and seen. The current owner and collector has kept the sales information from 2014, which is also included, along with the printout from the watchmaker, who also took photos of the movement and the caseback. The included printout shows that the movement is running accurately. The chronograph and regular time display also work properly. The watch was worn only once after its purchase in 2014. Breitling Chronomat Ref 769 B+P steel patent +27012, Venus 175
Euro 4.250
This Breitling Chronomat chronograph dates from around 1945 and is the first chronograph model with a slide rule, and the first Chronomat. This is why Swiss patent no. 217012 with a Swiss cross is included on the dial. The watch is completely original and has a well-functioning Venus 175 movement (last revision unknown, but possibly 2014). This is one of the chronographs Leon Breitling designed not for pilots, but rather for scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. It comes with a period-correct, very early Breitling box and Chronomat instruction booklet. It is a classic and wearable watch from 1945 that deserves a place in any Breitling collection due to its condition and special place in Breitling history.
The steel bezel turns smoothly and has well-defined notches. It measures 37mm. The case, pusher, and B-crown are made of steel (the B-crown is a bit worn). The case may have been lightly serviced, according to the previous owner (2014). The back bears the reference number 769 and the unique serial number. The movement is signed but does not have a US import code, so it may have originally been supplied in Europe (although not all US import watches received a code at the time). The dial and hands are completely original and correct. The beautiful dial is fantastically preserved and has minimal patina with only two notable signs of age (mainly around the hand in the left register and next to the 1). The beautiful Breitling box was acquired some time later in America but could be European. The watch also comes with a very early instruction booklet (according to the seller, the original paperwork was obtained in 2014).
This is a roughly 80-year-old classic that has been worn sparingly but is certainly worth seeing. The current owner and collector has kept the sales information from 2014, which is also included, as is the printout from the watchmaker, who also took the photographs of the movement. The included printout shows that the movement is running accurately. The chronograph and regular time display also work properly. The watch was worn only once after purchase in 2014. Breitling ref. 1193 Chronograph from the 1950's.
SOLD
This early Breitling is signed in all the correct places (dial, back and movement). It has been fully restored some years ago to look the part again. It was matched to a period correct leather strap as well as a period correct Stelux gold filled strap that matches the color exactly. It received a new gold filled layer on the case and crown but there are some signs of use (absolutely no wear through the gold layer). The original Venus 188 movement was serviced and is working great. The stainless steel back was polished as well. The dial has some small signs of age but looks great and shiny. The Case measures 34mm wide without the pushers / crown. No box, no papers but it comes with the Breitling reference book shown in the pictures to get the full details as a set. A great 70 year old watch with a lot of background which can be well worn on your special occasions!
